About

Hey friends! I’m 29 years old, married to a history teacher, and the mother of a little boy, born April 2006. I’m a Midwest transplant living in Arizona. I taught high school English for four years before leaving teaching to stay home with my son. When I go back to work, I hope to become a librarian. What I love most is my family. Second most, reading.

What I really want to do with this blog is make it a resource for people who live in the Yuma area and want book recommendations, particularly for books available at the Yuma County Libraries, as well as bookish news. I love all books–I really do. And I know what turns my crank won’t necessarily turn someone else’s. That said, this blog will probably focus on a few areas that are of special interest to me: children’s literature, classic literature, Southwest literature, and Latin American literature.

Hi, there! I was trying to find an old review of Grand Ambition and I came across your website with your kind review of my novel. I am so honored! I’m glad the story rang bells for you (especially Bessie’s life in San Francisco). Thanks for the recommendation. I traveled to Yuma on the one-book tour and met an incredibly nice librarian there. Hope you find your dream job when your son is older.

    All best wishes,
    Lisa Michaels
